The loss of a child through miscarriage is a trauma that is seldom addressed openly in our society. Yet conservative estimates show that one out of every five pregnancies ends in a miscarriage. If the number of unreported or undiagnosed pregnancies is added to the above statistic the rate increases to one in three and may be as high as one in every two pregnancies end in miscarriage. Too many of our friends and loved ones suffer in silent agony. In Heavenly Arms is a work designed to bring hope and healing to miscarriage survivors. When it was first published in 1997 there were very few other books in the market, and fewer still from a Christian perspective. We are pleased to announce that the newly revised and updated Second Edition (2018) of In Heavenly Arms is now available. In Heavenly Arms' uniqueness is that it is the first book on miscarriage written from a Christian perspective that is actually a structured healing guide through the grief process and not just a collection of stories. The author is a licensed mental health professional and miscarriage survivor, Dr. Shari Bridgman. Dr Bridgman started a ministry for miscarriage survivors at Saddleback Valley Community Church in 1993 and this book was developed out of and for that ministry. In Heavenly Arms includes over 30 structured exercises to guide the reader through the healing process. Additionally, it includes a chapter for siblings and one just for husbands, because too often their grief is ignored and never addressed. The last part of the book provides all the structure and resources necessary for someone to start their own ministry/support group for miscarriage. We have had groups started at crisis pregnancy centers and churches across the country as well as in Australia.
