Autorenporträt
Born and raised in South Florida, Alisia Latoi, received a bachelors in English and Sociology at Florida Atlantic University. Alisia has been writing poetry from the age of nine. Her poetry style is free form. Her first collection features poems written in her early years, adolescents, and young adulthood. Early selections feature poems filled with angst, then religious fervor in the later years, and lovelorn feelings as a young adult. Interspersed with selections about betrayal and neglect. Some topics, for example, deal with a long suffering mother and alcoholic father. Growing up, Alisia Latoi fought with low self-esteem and thoughts of suicide which guided her writing as a young child. Her home life, while stable, was not void of trepidation. Tidbits of such could be sensed throughout this collection. Seeking an escape from her own self- loathing, she sought refuge and healing through church. Making church her addiction, she spent as much time as possible there throughout her teenage years. Her most recent works depict a search for love that in the end was not reciprocated and a conclusion of self-acceptance.
