Poetree, Poe for short, is a multidisciplinary artist from Newark, New Jersey, born to a Black and Indigenous (Chippewa and Blackfoot) mother and a Puerto Rican father. Poe is proudly a first generation graduate with a BA in English Language and Literature doubled with Sociology with a concentration in Social Deviance from Saint Peter's University. Throughout her youth she experienced many traumas and struggles and these experiences paired with her desire to break generational cycles encouraged her to lean on art to cope and heal from the aspects of her life she could not control. From formal dance training starting at 9 years old, writing her very first poem at just 11 years old, to obtaining multiple Literary Magazine publications by the time she reached adulthood, Poe evolved over the years as an artreprenur, dancer, poet, model and artist. The force of exhibiting her take on beauty expression, culture, naturalism, activism, feminism and the power of her art, "being unapologetically herself," through social media led to features in Essence, Elle, Refinery29, Byrdie, BET, Revolt TV and much more.
