In Mommy's Tummy is a rhyming, lyrical tale told from the perspective of expecting parents. Intended to be read to a toddler audience, it walks the reader through the steps of pregnancy. From the excited moment of discovery, through the grand plans of clothes and nurseries, to sonogram pictures, debating over names, and the eager anticipation of birth, it is meant to help a young child understand how they became a part of their parents' lives before they were born. It is also meant to help toddler siblings understand what's happening with their parents before their baby brother or sister arrives. Artist and illustrator Ashley Bittner brings the expecting parents' world to life with vivid, colorful, expressive imagery. The combination of simple text and luscious artwork helps children visualize their parents preparing for their arrival, while evoking the warmth and love with which we greet the newest members of our families.

Autorenporträt
Matthew E. "Matt" Bass is, among other things (including lawyer, sportsman, and musician), a writer and author. He is also a proud daddy to daughter Sadie and son Greyson, and husband to wife Kelbi. They live in Matt's hometown of Berryville, Virginia. In Mommy's Tummy was inspired by a poem Matt wrote after Sadie (his first child) was born in 2016. The concept for an illustrated children's book came about when Matt happened upon a beautifully-illustrated Christmas card accidentally sent to his house by artist/illustrator Ashley Bittner. He eventually figured out that the card was meant for a neighbor, but nevertheless contacted Ashley to see if she would be interested in illustrating for him. Fortunately, she agreed. Matt plans for In Mommy's Tummy to be the first of multiple children's books covering a range of themes in the coming years and currently has several projects in various stages of production.
