Scott is the historian tasked with interviewing Mashir Khan, one of the last remaining Nill historians from the alien planet Nilleon. Torn apart by war, famine. climate crises, and the refusal of political change, the Nill were forced to flee or die from the collapsing world around them. Hundreds of thousands of Nill fled to Earth over the past twenty years. The United Nations has now called a special session of the General Assembly to address the Nill Refugee Crisis. Scott has one week in Cairo to learn from Mashir while avoiding the authoritarian grip of Egypt's police state led by President Abdel Haladi. Promises of a great future for the people of Egypt are backed by recent advancements in android technology resulting in the creation of a new class of workers exploited by the world machine and subjected to systemic violence. The lives of the wealthiest humans continue to improve while the majority of the world reaps the punishments of this futuristic, dystopian world. Scott is expected to give a speech to the General Assembly about what must be done to address the impending crisis of his time. Will liberation prove to be a solely human achievement, or will Scott be able to convince the United Nations to change their course for the Nill and android peoples?
