Peshawar born Satinder Kumar Lambah served the Government for over five decades, including two tenures in Pakistan as Deputy Chief of Mission and High Commissioner; Ambassador to Hungary, Germany and Russia; Chairman of National Security Advisory Board; Special Representative for Afghanistan under Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and later Special Envoy for backchannel talks with Pakistan under Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for a decade. After leaving the Government, he continued to lead Track II dialogue with several key countries.
