Medicinal Know-How - Hormone produced by fat cells and received by receptors in the hypothalamus. There are about 40 chemicals in the brain known to control behavior. These chemicals are called neurotransmitters, and there a 12 that have been found to control eating behavior alone. Neurotransmitters control eating habits in a variety of ways. They influence when eating begins, how long or fast and organism eats, when eating stops, and how long the interval between eating will last. Leptin isone of these neurotransmitters.
