Sandy Paull was born in Mackay on the central Queensland coast. She gave up work to be a full-time mother to her three children (now all adults), returning to the workforce in her mid-40s to contribute to her and her husband's mutual goal of overseas travel. She enjoys an active life, avidly enjoying gymnastics and playing basketball as a junior, to coaching schoolgirl basketball as a mother. She has had a long association with Kyokushin Karate, achieving the status of Qld Women's Senior Kata Champion at age 39. Creativity and persistence are two key drivers in her life. Sketching, macramé, sewing dance costumes, designing and carrying out her own home landscaping, learning keyboard and guitar and fiction writing are examples of her imagination and determination to master new skills. Sandy started writing 17 years ago, initially for her own enjoyment and these days to challenge herself. She has been a member of the Mackay Writers group as well as the U3A (University of the Third Age) Writers Group. Sandy acknowledges vital guidance and encouragement from a founding member of the Mackay Writers who is also a published author, journalist and editor.
