What constitutes "nationalism", and how this relates to any dystopian aspects of America's past, as portrayed, or its future, as conjectured, are matters of interpretation. The protagonist has aspects of the "anti-hero", along with the stoic optimism of the "socialist realist hero". In all, it is something new. Between the protagonist and the lesser characters, I am fleshing out a "supra-existentialism". Political non-fiction is included at the end, building into the political melodrama following 2016.
