Urolithiasis and osteoporosis are two multifactorial diseases that have become more epidemiologically significant, with the tendency of continuous increase of incidence due to the prolonged life span and unhealthy life habits. They present a significant social, economic and health problem, both for the individual and the society, because the treatment costs are very high. Recidive rate for urolithiasis is pretty high - around 50%, and the recognition of risks for osteoporosis helps in preventive strategy and education of affected patients with the aim of decreasing the percentage of osteoporotic fractures which present the serious cause of morbidity and mortality in the developed countries. It is necessary to develop the population awareness of risk factors and preventive measures for these diseases.Prevention measures should be applied during childhood and puberty, and the significance of physical activity and healthy diet (no smoking and avoiding coffee and alcohol)should be continuously emphasized as the most efficient method for strong bones and muscles and optimal body weight.
