Due to demographic changes, finding and retaining good employees became increasingly difficult in recent times. Accordingly companies turn into competitors not only in matters of customers but also jobholders. Companies have to accept that good staff members become a limited resource for whom you have to crusade for and who cannot be replaced easily. This thesis examines aspects that influence employee satisfaction as well as motivation and demonstrates possibilities to increase satisfaction. A selection of best case studies should show exemplary realizations and a survey on jobholders and human resources managers can give an idea about divergences and preferences of personnel policy measures. The final development of a concept for a virtual company expresses an example about how to increase employee satisfaction and which benefits this may bring the company. However, there are almost endless measures, techniques and methods available to increase employee motivation and satisfaction. Each employee has his or her own individual needs and requirements which have to be considered in order to improve satisfaction; hence an employee-oriented philosophy is essential. Although the implementation of such concepts may be cost-intensive and interminable, as soon as successfully realized they are worth all effort.
