To the local historian, the history of Lancaster County, Pennsyvlania is rich and well-documented. The cultural heritage of the county is strongly defined by its location, geography, social and religious characteristics, and the vital role the county played in the development of colonial Pennsylvania. At this point, however, no thorough examination of indentured servitude in Lancaster County or any other county level study in nearby counties has been discovered. These individuals were a vital part of the colonial growth of America and deserve further investigation: their motivations, experiences and decisions. This work is an effort to encourage others to explore not only the subject but the potential family heritage impacts this class of explorers may have on families across the country. Good luck in your exploration!
