In India the situation of hill farm women is agrave. Besides being a farm woman she is also a mother, wife and daughter in law and therefore performs multifarious responsibilities including activities within the four walls of home; and activities outside the home include farm work. Her health status has never been considered as an area of concern although she requires special attention as compared to other women sections of the country due to her significant role in hill agriculture, difficult terrain, topography, inadequate infrastructure and critical work culture of the hilly area. This book therefore is an effort to raise the curtain from the actual scenario of hill farm women. It reveals their socio-economic profile, health profile, indigenous health care practices, food practices in pregnancy and lactating period, child care practices, dimensions of development of their children, association of mother's and child health. Recommendations to overhaul their condition are discussed. The discussion should help policy makers, scientists, researchers and welfare officials working at grass root level to make conscious efforts to uplift the vulnerable group towards right direction.
