Without parallel in the history of Christianity are the problems arising from the contact of the Gospel with Hinduism in India. What is the Christian's response to the sacred books, sacred rites, well-structured religio-philosophical systems and religions with a claim to universality? What should be his attitude towards the rich heritage of the profound religious experience of Hinduism? Is he to accept it or reject it? Is it possible to integrate Hindu religious experience without compromising his faith? Indian theologians have sought an answer to these and similar problems.
