Culicidae (insects of the Order Diptera, Family Culicidae), commonly known as mosquitoes, are vectors of various pathogens of human and animal diseases and a nuisance to the general population. Resources launched with the aim of controlling urban pests using chemical compounds must be used with the utmost parsimony in order to avoid environmental contamination and hinder the emergence of resistant strains of vectors and urban pests to the biocides used. This book deals with the subject with the aim of establishing Culex quinquefasciatus infestation indices based on the count of adult insects and their immature forms collected in swimming pools and proposing a tool to estimate the nuisance caused by bites in the surrounding population.
