Fresh water is a fundamental resource, essential to all ecological and social activities. The rapid growth of population and the unethical use of this integral natural resource is now decreasing to an alarming rate. Like other developing countries Pakistan is among those countries that are contaminating its fresh water resources by dumping its industrial waste in it and are consider to be fresh water deficit country. In the recent unseen future it is predicable that Pakistan will face the worst chronic water shortage, if effective decisions and actions are not taken. In this circumstances, the recycling/treatment waste water is the only solution to overcome the waste water management and shortage issues. Out of verity of treatments for waste water, a microbial fuel cell (MFC) is a bioreactor that not only recycle the waste water but converts chemical energy in the chemical bonds in organic compounds to electrical energy through catalytic reactions of microorganisms under anaerobic conditions. It has been known for many years that it is possible to treat the waste water and generate electricity directly by using bacteria.
