It is important in dental practice because both the dental health care professionals and patient may be revealed to pathogens through contact with blood, oral and respiratory secretions and are at high risk of emergence of new communicable diseases like hepatitis B and C, HIV and prevailing diseases like tuberculosis which makes it important to control the transmission. Infection control in dentistry has become a topic of great interest worldwide over the last ten years. With the implementation of latest infection control procedures before, during and after treating a pediatric dental patient the risk of transmission of diseases can be greatly reduced.
