This work focuses on infinitival constructions in Hindi. Infinitives are studied under the scope of morphology and syntax. The aim of this study was to find a semantic justification for the nature of infinitival clauses in Hindi. Infinitival clauses here have been sub-categorized into purposive, permissive, and injunctive clauses. Control infinitives, sub-divided under the try and decide type, which can be related to restructuring and non-restructuring infinitives, have been analyzed for Hindi. The work includes a discussion of the three types of complementizer placements in Hindi. k -n , and n ke l ye are two of these placements that allow infinitival complements.
