Human resource (HR) best practices and commitment of employees in organisations have been identified as a basis for achieving a competitive advantage. HR best practices are high performance work systems which when used could lead to highly motivated and committed employees in an organisation. With the increased cases of teachers' strikes and low teacher commitment in Kenya, it is not clear whether lack of HR best practices could be the cause. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of HR best practices on teacher commitment in public secondary schools in Keiyo Sub County. The specific HR practices that the research focused on were extensive training, information sharing, high pay contingent on performance and team working in relation to various indicators of teacher commitment in schools.
