The present work was carried out during two seasons (2009 and 2010) at the Experimental farm of the Faculty of Agricultural (Saba Basha) at abbes, Alexandria University. Field experiment was conducted to study the effect of organic, inorganic fertilization and bio-fertilization on growth, yield, essential oil production and the chemical constituents of Mentha spicata, L. Experimental design which was split plot with three replicates. Generally the obtained results indicated the following: Application of organic manure levels at 24 m3 fed. gave the best results on the all agronomic characteristics. The results point to the beneficial effects of organic manure levels at 24 m3 fed. and biofertilization mixture plus half a dose of NPK as alternative nutrition systems on the growth characteristics, total N, P and carbohydrate content, and essential oil yields of spearmint. Alternative nutrition systems could have environmental advantages when compared to conventional NPK fertilizers and thereby protect both the environment and human health.
