The society of the XXI century, oversaturated with information, needs a new type of teacher - a personality, not only having creative potential and capable of professional self-development, but, mainly, able to rank and critically perceive the rapidly increasing flow of information. One of the main conditions influencing the development of information competence of future teachers is the availability of information educational environment (IEO), the most important element of which are modern university libraries, integrating a variety of information resources into it. Providing readiness of the subjects of pedagogical education to be included in a modern information and educational environment is an important pedagogical problem, one possible solution is the formation of information culture of the subjects of pedagogical education by the university libraries.
