Vinay B. Patil est bibliothécaire et travaille depuis 21 ans à l'A.D.P.Ms, Women's College of Arts, Commerce & Home Science, Jalgaon. Il est titulaire d'un MLIS et d'un doctorat en bibliothéconomie et sciences de l'information. Il a publié quatre livres et 40 articles dans des revues nationales et internationales. Il a guidé plus de 35 étudiants en MLISc et 4 étudiants en doctorat.
