The author argues that to communicate and translate knowledge and information to users, one needs an information system that allows simultaneous utilisation of knowledge and information. For this system to be effective, knowledge of users' information needs is a major prerequisite to the process. She observes that the existing systems and resources have proved to be ineffective in satisfying users' information needs hence posing a challenge to information providers. Therefore, this book recommends that information providers should shift from a system-centred paradigm to a user-centred paradigm.
