Small and Medium size Enterprises account for a major part of the world economic activities, creating employment, generating innovative ideas and wealth and their supply of goods and services to large organizations. The effectiveness of their operations and timely service delivery heavily depends on the use of information systems. This research focuses on a management's perspective of the security threats associated with the deployment of information systems. Through a review of several whitepapers, journals and literature by other scholars, the researcher has been able to analyse what motivates these threats, he has shown that there is no need for the installation of intrusion detection controls or firewalls if a Risk Analysis Process of the information system deployed by an organization has not been carried out by it's management.The research concludes with how Small and Medium size Enterprises can adopt greater levels of information system security measures.
