Jacqueline van Maarsen, geboren 1929, wuchs als Tochter eines holländischen Juden und einer französischen Katholikin in Amsterdam auf. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde sie Buchbinderin. Sie lebt heute in Amsterdam.
