The present study is an aim to provide an insight into this scant literature and also contributing to it by extending the analysis to a city that is a national capital and has adopted the master planning strategy emphatically-Delhi (India). The study is presented in two volumes in which the first one brings out in detail literature on the topic and practices of master planning around the world. The second one focuses on the case study of Delhi with specific reference to master planning strategy and comparing it with best practices observed in urban planning at various levels
