Out of the learnt lessons in rock modelling published in Rock Fracture Mechanics Simulation in LS-DYNA Discrete Element Method: Multi-scale Simulation of Rock Mechanics Before and After Fracture using Bonded and Unbounded Discrete Element Method by the same author along with studying Abaqus DEM, Bio-inspired concept of Dual Reciprocating Drill (DRD) from space innovative technology, extensive experimental campaign on sandstone and some other topics, this book builds up to the semi-experimental and digital assessment of seabed rock penetration conceptualizing the adoption and adaption of DRD for such purpose. The merits and disadvantageous of modifying this innovative drilling method have been determined and discussed using structural (topological and topographical) optimization techniques regarding the novel drill arm and bit in comparison the conventional and traditional oil and gas heavy duty drills. Respecting the extreme condition of target working environment the mechanism and further design modification have been applied resulting in a preliminary proposal of an ocean bed reciprocating drill for penetrating medium to hard rocks effectively and hopefully more efficiently.
