Over the years energy efficiency is drawing much attention towards sustainable solutions. In 2007-2008, the Centre for Manufacture of The University of Manchester and NEPPCO UK Ltd. suggested that the Manchester airport could replace high power lamps with efficient light sources in order to cut down the energy usage. This book provides a solution to the airport authorities for replacing high power lamp sources by describing the practical and experimental work. It is based on a manufacturing of a light source by Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) polymer which is also known as acrylic. The good optical properties of acrylic have made it suitable for use it as a waveguide for High Brightness Light Emitting Diodes (HBLEDs). Also considering the fact that it has light weight and good weathering resistance. The book describes the injection moulding of torus shape with acrylic material and the challenges faced before and after conducting the experiments. The acrylic torus can reduce the energy usage upto 60-70% and it can be used in any type of facility such as airports, industries, commercial trade centres, street and domestic lamps etc.
