The book Injuries in elite athletes in the olympic period from 2008 to 2012 represents a unique research of injuries of the elite Serbian athletes. Due to the large number of participants and different organisation of the work within the clubs and associations, this type of research in track and field has been highly demanding, compared to the research performed in team sports. The book presents specificity and frequency of injuries of elite track and field athletes in the Republic of Serbia, during four year Olympic cycle, as well as the disciplines with the most recorded injuries. The most common injuries in track and field as well as the mechanism of their occurrence have also been described. In addition, the book has included an analysis of the risk factors that exist in the training environment, and that could lead to injuries of athletes. These factors should be specifically addressed during the training process, in order to reduce the number of injuries and increase the quality of the results. The risk factors for injuries in elite athletes have not been studied enough; therefore this book is an important contribution to this field of sports medicine.

Anita Solaja MS has obtained her Master degree in Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy in 2012. and in Sport Science in 2014. She is the author of several articles published in reputed journals. She works as Athletic and Strength & Conditioning coach. She is the Strength & Conditioning coach of several junior and senior elite Serbian tennis players.
