Dr Gede Pardianto is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at the Sabang Merauke Eye Centre (SMEC), Assistant Professor and Head of the Ophthalmology Study Programme at Universitas Prima Indonesia. Dr Pardianto graduated as a medical doctor and ophthalmologist from Universitas Airlangga, and received his PhD with (Summa) Cum Laude from Universitas Sumatera Utara. Dr Pardianto is the author of more than 65 national and international publications. Some of them have been published in Q1 journals such as JCRS and Clinical Ophthalmology and presented in Paris, Sydney, Vienna, Seoul, New Haven, Singapore, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Boston, London, Copenhagen, Kathmandu, Lisbon, Washington DC, Barcelona, Marrakech and Cape Town at the meetings of AAO, ASCRS, ESCRS, ESCRS Winter Meeting, EuCornea, Euretina, WOC, APAO, APACRS, EyeWorld USA Interview, etc. Some have been indexed in Scopus, PubMed, EMBASE and MEDLINE; and cited as references in more than 128 international journal articles and papers in various fields such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine, zoology, psychology, pharmacy, chemistry and all fields of engineering, some of which have been published in several languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Greek, Urdu, Finno-Ugric and Cyrillic; and published by Springer, Elsevier, Willey, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, Wolters Kluwer, SLACKS, StatPearls, Dovepress, Hindawi, Anak Sudarti Foundation, etc. Dr Pardianto is editor of 2 international journals and reviewer of 8 international journals, as well as editor of 3 books and author of 5 books. He is the author and editor of an international textbook entitled "The Intraocular Lens Power Calculation". He has reviewed more than 80 manuscripts for international journals. In total, he has contributed to more than 245 published international papers from several top universities in the world.  Dr Pardianto has been the Course Director of 30 Maestro Lecture Series, featuring the world's best ophthalmologists and attended by thousands of participants from 125 countries on 6 continents. He has also been a panelist and chair in many international conferences including WWCRS and WOC. World Champion (Indonesian Team) in Row to Alcatraz, 1999, San Francisco, California, USA and California Gold Rush Race, 1999, Long Beach, California, USA. He is also the recipient of 9 Medals of Honour from the President of the Republic of Indonesia   Prof Tassignon was President and Past President of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons from 2004 to 2007, President of the European Board of Ophthalmology from 2007 to 2008, and President of the International Academy of Ophthalmology from 2018 to 2022, to which she was elected in 2007 (Chair L). She has been an officer and board member of many international ophthalmological societies. She was elected Chair V of the European Academy of Ophthalmology in 2008 and became a member of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Belgium in 2009. Prof Tassignon has seven granted patents in various fields of ophthalmology, including the bag-in-the-lens and the ring caliper. New patent applications are in the pipeline to improve surgical techniques in vitreous pathologies and patient outcomes in floaters.  Prof Tassignon is author/co-author of 315 publications and 23 chapters in 21 books. She is also involved in international ophthalmological congresses, some of which she chairs.  Prof Tassignon is an internationally renowned ophthalmologist and has received many global awards in recognition of her contribution to the international ophthalmological field. Prof Marie-José Tassignon has attracted engineers, physicists and paramedical researchers to complement the medical staff at the Antwerp Department of Ophthalmology. As an ophthalmic surgeon, Prof Tassignon works with patients of all ages. She has operated on Belgian royalty and several ministers of state using her patented Bag-in-the-Lens implantation technique, which prevents posterior capsule opacification. The most rewarding thing for her is to have helped so many babies and school-age children with the BIL technique and to have discovered the importance of the anterior vitreous phase in the physiology of the child and adult eye.
