In the knowledge-based economy, innovation has obtain the central role in the business world. The traditional idea that innovation is based upon research is replaced by the chain-link and system of innovation theories. Women's entrepreneurship is gaining increasing recognition. This book provides knowledge about the innovation activities of the Greek enterprises, the role of women in innovation development and the innovation policy with regard to the European Union. Despite the fact that Greece contributes significantly in high technology industry, its competitiveness remains. The analysis should be useful to professionals, policy makers and academics in innovation management and women entrepreneurship fields. We were working with the data set of the research: Women and Innovation: Determinant factors and obstacles of innovative activity of Greek firms Archimedes research project, Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Athens, Greece, in all the following tables. The results concern the case of Greece during the years 2004-2006. One of the authors of this monograph (Dr. Y. Hatzikian) participated in the planning and the implementation of the above research project.

Autorenporträt
Dr Y Hatzikian received a BA from U of Athens and his PhD in innovation management from Panteion U, Athens, Greece. He is Adjunct Lecturer at TEI Athens and he teaches Business Planning. Assoc Prof V Ninni received her BA from U of Athens in chemistry and her PhD from AUEB, Athens, Greece. She teaches Industrial Technology and Environment at AUEB.
