The outstanding artist of the word Andrey Platonov lived and wrote "inside the war". The proposed monograph considers Platonov's military prose in the light of new archival and textological data. The focus is on poetics: the interaction of categories of tragic, heroic and utopian in Platonov's text about the war in the war, features of the image structure, the function of the trails, the role of the Christian code of culture in the organization of the semantic field of a separate work and the military epic of the writer as a whole. The final part of the book is represented by a commentary on the story "Return", which highlights the creative history of the work, thematic, plot-composite, figurative, and motifical links of the text with the context of creativity. An important part of the research is to read Platonov's military epic with the help of Platonov: to reveal it, his author's, understanding of time, history, literature.
