René Revis Shingles, PhD, AT, ATC, is professor emeritus in theAthletic Training Program at Central Michigan University. She was inducted intothe Hall of Fame for the National Athletic Trainers' Association, and hasreceived many prestigious awards, including the National Athletic Trainers'Association Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee Bill Chisolm ProfessionalService Award, Michigan ACE Distinguished Woman in Higher Education LeadershipAward, Central Michigan University Woman of the Year, and Central MichiganUniversity Excellence in Teaching Award. The Dr. René Revis Shingles LeadershipAward was created to honor her for her outstanding leadership qualities.Shingles is the first and only African American woman inducted into theNational Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame. Kysha Harriell, PhD, LAT, ATC, isa Clinical Professor at the University of Miami and the Associate Dean forInclusive Excellence and Advocacy in the School of Education and HumanDevelopment. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the National Academies ofPractice in Athletic Training and the Vice President of theCommission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE). Dr.Harriell is the former Chair of the National Athletic Trainers' Association(NATA) Ethnic Diversity Advisory Committee (EDAC) and has been recognized withmultiple honors, including the NATA Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer Awardand the Athletic Training Service Award.
