Poetry is a fairly recent addition to my life. I never knew there was poetry inside until I hit some very, very difficult times in my life, personally. Poetry is a fairly recent addition to my life. I never knew there was poetry inside until I hit some very, very difficult times in my life, personally. The first poem (My Maker) came to me very early one morning as I was earnestly praying for my children and some challenging issues they were facing. The sun's rays were just beginning to peak over the horizon and the words just washed over me like a flood. I was compelled to jot them down quickly as they just came pouring out and within minutes the poem formed on paper which left me in complete tears. Even today, when I read that poem, my heart is stirred by the inspiration of the moment. Most of the poems came to me during the birthing process of First Freedoms Foundation (www.firstfreedoms.ca). This past year has been a very challenging and faith building time for my husband and me. We've stepped out into the unknown at God's direction with no foundation other than Him! I am truly beginning to understand what faith is! "Faith is the essence of things unseen, the substance of things hoped for"! (Hebrews 11:1). Faith takes us to our ground roots, challenges us to the core and then rebuilds us in Jesus, His strength, wisdom, joy and peace! I'm beginning to know peace like I've never known before! I'm learning to let go and to completely trust in God! The words of these poems are really not mine. Most of them have come to me while cycling early in the morning, or gardening amidst the wonders of God's creation. I say the words "came to me" because that's really what happened. As the words would pop into my mind, I'd quickly grab my phone, record the phrases, and then transcribe them into the computer when I got home. They have become a real source of strength to me and a part of my daily prayers. The words of the poems continue to speak to me throughout my day and encourage or challenge me as needed. I'm so blessed and grateful to God for the gift of these poems. It is my prayer that as you read these poems, you will hear God's voice speaking through the words. They are His words and I want to share them with you!
