The African Union is a regional Institution that governs the member states, plays roles in conflicts resolution, political and social economic relations and acts as a force in maintaining regional peace and political stability among the members. The AU is an actor and force in regional & Legal matters within the sub-region. This book will analyze the potential and limitations of the African Union effort in relation to management of conflicts and conflict resolutions. This research work will also examine the African Union institutional strengths and weaknesses, the role of regional and extra-regional actors in conflict management in Africa, and suggest ways of developing links between the African Union (AU) and Africa's sub regional security mechanisms. Finally policy prescriptions for future policies to meet the challenges are provided. Africa is suffering immensely from ongoing conflicts throughout the continent, situation whereby the AU acts as a mediator.
