The advancement of information technology and the Internet makes a dramatic change in creating a new paradigm in education via Web-based courses, which provides an exciting opportunity for teachers, but also poses great challenges for practice. As such, an awareness of issues and requirements for the design process is a necessity. This book, therefore, depicts how teachers move their courses online with an attempt to help the intended reader develop an understanding of the instructional design process for possible practice. Theoretical perspectives, evolution of the field and ID models as well as the design process are described analytically. Challenges, strategies, and expertise are discussed with specific examples. A collaborative model is developed together with a conceptual framework for the design process. It is believed that this book can be a reference document for professionals and preprofessionals in this field. Specifically, it should be beneficial to teachers, instructional designers, and researchers as well as graduate students, or anyone else who are interested in online course development or E-teaching/learning.
