Produktbeschreibung
This open access book provides basic concepts on Integrated Diagnostics and Theranostics with special emphasis on different human thyroid diseases.

Thyroid diseases are increasingly detected (incidentally in many cases) but are clinically negligible in a significant proportion of patients. Accordingly, it is urgent to move from the simple disease detection to a reliable disease characterization in order to concentrate efforts on patients in need of tailored disease management.

The current scenario of in vitro and in vivo diagnostics, is fastly moving toward the Integrated Diagnostics (i.e. convergence of imaging, pathology and laboratory tests with advanced information technology). Furthermore, the integration of different information will aid clinicians to properly select treatments and stratify patients' prognosis over time. Theranostics is a perfect paradigm of such integrated approach and radioiodine, indicated for benign and malignant thyroid disease management, was the first and is still the mostly used theranostic agent in medicine.
Featuring basics concepts and clinical cases discussions the Atlas will be an invaluable tool for clinicians, laboratory specialists, imaging physicians and biomedical technologists involved in diagnosis and therapy of thyroid diseases.

Autorenporträt
Prof Giovanella serves as Professor of Nuclear Medicine at University Hospital and University of Zürich and as Scientific Advisor of the Interdisciplinary Thyroid Center at the University Hospital of Zürich (Switzerland). He's the Chairman of the Thyroid Committee-European Assocition of Nuclear Medicine and the Chairman of the Thyroid Working Group-Swiss Society of Nuclear Medicine. He also serves as Chairman of the Clinic of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging - Imaging Institute of Southern Switzerland in Bellinzona (Switzerland) and Consultant for integrated endocrine diagnostics at Synlab Switzerland (Lucerne). His clinical and scientific activities are mainly focused on the diagnosis and treatment of thyroid diseases with emphasis on molecular imaging, theranostics, circulating and predictive "in vivo" and "in vitro". He is the author of more than 500 peer-reviewed scientific papers, several book's chapters and is the editor of five monographic books on thyroiddiseases, theranostics and positron emission tomography-based molecular imaging.
Rezensionen
"This book is open access, which means that you have free and unlimited admission to it ... . this book is useful for all those interested in updating themselves in the field of diagnosis and therapy of thyroid diseases. ... I strongly suggest to acquire this book, eventually also purchasing a paper copy for your department." (Luigi Mansi, European Journal of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Vol. 50 (13), 2023)
