Indian bean or Dolichos bean (Lablab purpureus L. var. typicus) belongs to the family Fabaceae (2n = 22), one of the most ancient crop among cultivated plants and cultivated for its soft and edible pods. The consumer preference varies with pod size, shape, colour, softness and aroma (pod fragrance). The application of 75% recommended dose of Nitrogen and Phosphorus in combination with PSB + VAM + Rhizobium bio-fertilizers may prove better in terms of better growth and yield of Indian Bean along with good quality soft pods to fulfil consumer preference. Farmers may be benefited from cultivation of Indian bean by getting Rs 111970 ha-1 as net return and 2.44 B:C ratio and resulted in saving of 25 % RDF of nitrogen and phosphorus.
