This study aims at implementing the principles of integrated water resources management at one of the largest water consuming industries in Jordan; the Lafarge Cement Jordan at Al-Fuhais plant which is an important step towards more efficient use of the available water resources and environment protection. This was accomplished by conducting water audits for all water consuming units in the plant. Based on the findings of the water audit an action plan to improve water use efficiency in the plant was proposed. The main elements of the action plan are implementing water demand management techniques such as installing water saving devices, re-use of the treated wastewater generated at the plant, improving water harvesting in the plant, and raising the water awareness of the employees. Analysis showed that by implementing the action plan, it is expected that the industrial water demand at the factory can be satisfied from non- conventional water resources, in addition to improving the surrounding environment, decrease energy consumption and gain the local community acceptance. Supervisor: Dr. Abbas Al-mari, Co-Advisor: Prof. Micheal Sturm.
