Due to population growth, industrialization and urbanization, problems arise with drinking water supply, wastewater treatment and overall sanitary conditions. These negative aspects may restrict livelihood and the social and economic growth in the tropical monsoon region. Dr. Phan Thi Thanh Hang got PhD from University of Yamanashi and M.Sc from Nagoya University, Japan. She is working as senior researcher for Institute of Geography, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and carried out many research projects. Authored about 35 articles and presented papers in national and international conferences.
