The Nigerian society lacks profound environmental awareness, knowledge and attitudes (AKA) on sustainable environmental practices. This research addresses various environmental problems in society and analyses how Environmental Education (EE) could help to develop the students' awareness, knowledge and attitude towards their environment. The study investigates two secondary schools selected randomly in Lagos state, Nigeria, with additional observation of environmental education activities within some primary schools around the study area. The empirical part of this research follows qualitative and quantitative data analyses obtained through primary and secondary sources as social and experimental researches. Meanwhile, the research has proven correlation between students' attitudes, knowledge and awareness in regards to their participatory environment. The research also finds out that the existing components of environmental topics under the re-structured basic educational curriculum (UBE) for students were not made compulsory which has contributed to students' lack of environmental awareness, knowledge and attitude in the society.
