Integration of Faith and Learning: Understanding
Christian Learning in Tertiary Education presents
the perceptions and practice of students and
educators of the integration of faith and learning
(IFL)in Christian tertiary educational
institutions. It describes IFL in terms of relating
spirituality to the content of courses, to lifestyle
and practical living, and to the acquisition of
skills. Experiences and actions that promote
Christian learning are classroom climate, worship,
collaboration, attitudes and values, and teaching
and learning processes. Best practices for
integrating faith and learning include professor''s
exemplary life and caring attitude,class
discussions, infusing spirituality into lessons,
teaching techniques, and service. The book
recommends that teachers receive training to enable
them to consciously practice integration of faith
and learning. It proposes a merger of Korniejczuk
and Kijai''s Validated Model of Teacher
Implementation (1994) and Taylor''s Model of
Instructional Strategies for IFL (2001).
