The study delineates and follows a broad analytical framework of instruments used in inter-Arab conflict management within which inter-Arab adversaries operate. The League of Arab States and the Algerian-Moroccan conflict are the primary concern of the project. In conformity with the significance of understanding of a conflict in the process of its management, the study provides extensive overview of the conflict under investigation with special emphasis on its structure and main characteristics. Subsequently, the study analyses the different responses to the conflict. The objective is to reveal the gap between declared commitment and actual behaviour of the Arab League in prticular. In order to propose an alternative approach, the thesis systematically discloses the fundamental obstacles that preclude the development of inter-Arab conflict management. Accordingly, it suggests a modified contingency model while taking into account its potential effectiveness, compatibility and applicability on a broader organisational level. Hence, the study is an attempt at making a small contribution in building the theory of international mediation.
