Number of maize plants under intercropping patterns played a major role of intercropped maize yield. Net return of intercropped maize with cotton varied between Euro 243.1 and 603.8 per acre as compared with recommended solid planting of cotton (Euro 301.7). Mixed intercropping pattern gave the highest value of net return (Euro 603.8) when maize variety S.C.30k09 was grown in wide distance between hills (4 plants at 70 cm apart).
