Intercultural Competence - Theory, Practice and Fields of Action in the Context of Intercultural Opening and Political Education The increasing importance of intercultural competence is evident in a society characterised by plurality, change, differences and universality in ethnic groups, education and upbringing, politics and economics, culture and art, religion and law. Living together in society is to be seen as an aspiration. Problem areas are clearly visible in certain areas of society and cannot be considered in isolation from the social context and development. Intercultural competence has great opportunities, as it is about enrichment, new developments and discovering commonalities. Intercultural competence is to be shaped in a democratic life with norms, values and foundations of a democracy.
