Heidi Arneson trail-blazed performance-art wave with controversial plays about the underbelly of suburbia, then brought her skills crafting autobiographical theater behind bars to create spoken-word with male inmates. She risked expulsion untangling a web of secrecy about missing children in her first novel, Interlocking Monsters. Her second novel, The Chalk Canoe, a coming-of-age adventure to be released in the fall of 2018, has been called "a magic garden of uncanniness." Her awards include a Bush Artist Fellowship, a Loft/Jerome Minnesota Writer's Grant, and a Minnesota Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant. She writes and teaches in Minneapolis, in a big old house full of art and artists.
