In this funny and inspiring memoir of change and growth, publicist Mindie Barnett shares the secrets to keeping the faith and managing to thrive while starting your own second act. After finding the courage to leave her perfect-on-paper marriage, Mindie Barnett shifted the spotlight to herself. An expert at helping her clients pivot and put their best foot forward, it was now time to focus on her own second act. She committed herself to opening her heart and mind and bringing uplifting experiences into her life—even as it turned upside down. From tap lessons at her daughter’s dance school to a mid-life Bat Mitzvah ceremony, from running a half-marathon to seeking help from beyond the grave, from traditional talk therapy to consulting the angels, her journey covered all the bases as she juggled owning a business, the kids’ new schedules, and dating all over again in the age of texts and Tinder. Sometimes, the show must stop before it can go on. In Intermission, Mindie provides an inspirational guide to kick-starting your life that will resonate with women everywhere facing big life changes. After ten years working as a television news reporter and anchor within the Philadelphia and New York regions—among other cities—Mindie Barnett decided to use her knowledge and experience in the media to help propel businesses and position companies as thought-leaders. Barnett founded MB and Associates in 2003 and swiftly garnered a great deal of clients in a short amount of time. Because of her vast knowledge of the news business and strong ties with key members of the media—both on local and national levels—MB and Associates was able to achieve rapid results and obtain countless press opportunities for clients. Due to these attributes, Mindie Barnett is now one of the nation’s most sought-after and respected publicists. Mindie Barnett’s public relations credits include landing clients’ opportunities on Oprah, the Today show, Good Morning America, Inside Edition, Live with Kelly and Ryan, Dr. Oz, The Doctors, Anderson Cooper 360°, In Touch Weekly, US Weekly, InStyle magazine, USA Today, and MSNBC, among numerous regional inclusions. Barnett was named "Business Owner of the Year," by the South Jersey chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. Her firm has won "Best PR Firm" by South Jersey Biz Magazine two years in a row. Mindie maintains her public relations and social media firm and is also the author of the self-help motivational memoir Intermission, a keynote speaker, the host of The Race for the Ring podcast, and an on-air television contributor.
