Nina Hodgson was born in Livingston, Montana, into a family where both parents worked in the health and nutrition field. As a child, she loved running around by the lake and hiking with her family.From a young age, she found nutrition interesting. She would frequently sit for hours talking with her parents about their work, and the three of them would share ideas. And it was no surprise when she went to college and earned a degree in Masters Nutritional Education. For most of her life, Nina struggled with her weight. She followed the food pyramid guidelines, making sure she ate the recommended serving sizes and worked out 30 minutes a day. While this seemed logical, it did not always leave her feeling, her best, and her weight would still fluctuate. Nothing seemed to work, and Nina was becoming more and more discouraged and developed a love/hate relationship with food. She was tired of trying to deal with what the researchers recommended as a nutritional diet. As she entered her 40s and 50s, she found that there wasn't much information about nutrition for these ages. Nina knew that the same nutrition guidelines would not work for women in their 50s as they did for women in their 20s and 30s. Helping women fifty and older became her new goal. Women over 50, like all people, must find a diet that they can maintain long term. When choosing a diet, look for one that suits your personal needs. Are you trying to lose weight? Do you want to feel better?
