Autorenporträt
Luciano Maiani is Emeritus Professor of Theoretical Physics at the Sapienza University of Roma and a former Director General of CERN. Prof. Maiani predicted the existence and properties of charged particles (GIM mechanism) crucial to the formulation of a gauge theory of electroweak interactions. Currently, his work is focused on the formation of quark-gluon plasma in heavy ion collisions. Prof. Maiani chaired the XXI  Edoardo Amaldi Conference.   Raymond Jeanloz is Professor of Earth and Planetary Science and of Astronomy at the University of California at Berkeley. Prof. Jeanloz has contributed research fundamental to understanding of the composition of the Earth and the behavior of materials under high temperatures and pressures.  Prof. Jeanloz is the Chair of Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC) at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Prof. Jeanloz chaired the XXI  Edoardo Amaldi Conference.   Micah Lowenthal was a Lecturer and Researcher in Nuclear Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley. Dr. Lowenthal is the Director of Committee on International Security and Arms Control (CISAC) at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and Senior Director for international networks and cooperation in the Policy and Global Affairs Division of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. Dr. Lowenthal is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society (APS), and a past chair of the APS Forum on Physics and Society. Dr. Lowenthal was Member of the Board of the XXI Edoardo Amaldi Conference. Wolfango Plastino is Professor of Applied Physics at the Roma Tre University. Prof. Plastino is Member of the Standing Advisory Group on Technical Assistance and Cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Scientific Coordinator in the framework of the virtual Data Exploitation Centre (vDEC) of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) for testing and evaluation of algorithms and datasets in support of the verification mission on radionuclide event screening categorization. Prof. Plastino was Scientific Secretary of the XXI Edoardo Amaldi Conference.
