This collection of essays results from a conference held in Jerusalem in 1988. Organized the West Bank affiliate of the International Commission of Jurists, al-Haq, its purpose was to examine legal problems arising out of Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Contributors include many internationally-renowned experts on international law and human rights as well as Palestinian lawyers and others actively engaged in addressing Palestinian rights. International concern over the future of the West Bank and Gaza Strip is as strong now as in 1988, and this book makes an important contribution to the legal literature on belligerent occupation, and on the Israeli-occupied territories.
